Dominique Biard was inspired through her vast travels to different parts of the world. Traveling to South Asia from Europe, she finally chose to set up her business in Ibiza. From her many traveling encounters around the world, Dominique has a deep regard for genuineness. Evidence of this is seen in her earlier works; jewelry designs with settings of ancient silver coins, discovered in Selinunte, an old Greek town in Sicily, are combined with materials like titanium or carbon-fiber to be converted into high-tech contemporary ornaments. Whether we approve of this strategy or not, it is indisputable that the creations are true works of art.

Biard Jewelry: from the past to the present

The Dominique Biard collection of “Rubans Décorations” is created using old ribbons from decorations, medals and orders, adorned with tiny rectangular shaped prints of pictures taken by her; each of which has been selected to enhance the colors and significance of the ribbons. Her works include a picture of a red poppy suspended on a Resistance medal’s ribbon and a photo, in black and white, dangling from the ribbon of the orange Moroccan Ouissam Alaouit; signifying a soft side of the medal by highlighting the story behind it.

Her other works include creating jewelry pieces with an unimaginable combination, like the fascinating ancient mother-of-pearl earrings decorated with amethysts. As time passes, the creations still depict ingenuity, which varies with the jeweler’s mood and can, occasionally, be conventional with geometrical patterns or sometimes intimate with the metal choice being linked to the stone color: silver, yellow or gray gold. Nonetheless, there is no doubt that the combination of rough stones with carved ones gives the ornaments a passion that can only be conveyed by the designer herself. This artist has devoted considerable time to the making of timeless fashion accessories to enhance feminine grace.
